Saddleback Maine is located in Sandy River Plantation, near Rangeley, Maine, on the northwestern slopes of Saddleback Mountain. It is the largest independent ski area on the east coast, in terms of number of skiable acres (600). It has (6) lifts, (85%) snowmaking percentage, vertical drop (2,000 feet [610 m]), and skier days.[1][2] After almost five years of closed doors, Saddleback Mountain was sold to the Arctaris Impact Fund and reopened on December 15, 2020.
Awarded the “Best in Maine” ski resort for 2022 by Down East Magazine, beating out the larger mountains of Sunday River and Sugarloaf.
Current updates include RFID scanners at the new Rangeley quad lift, a new mid-mountain lodge (under construction), EV charging stations, A-Frame condominiums, repaved mountain road, high-speed residential internet, and mountain biking trails. Saddleback features the most extensive beginner terrain in the northeast, with four miles of gentle sloping trails that are found below the base lodge and away from the rest of the mountain. Their ski and snowboard school boasts the lowest student to instructor ratio in North America. In addition to their beginner services, Saddleback has a top notch and unique base lodge, affordable skiing and riding and all of Saddleback's mountain lodging has ski-in/ski-out access.
